We will have a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 11, 2020 at 4:30 PM. 105 S Chenango in Angleton. Come out and celebrate with us. We will have a short ribbon cutting and then move inside for a celebration. Cake, punch, snacks, photo booth, and activities for the kids. I would love to meet you. Welcome to Spectrum of Light. I am excited you have taken the time to check out all I have to offer. Please excuse me as this is my first ever blog, but I have so many ideas that I am ready to share. I would start with an introduction, but if you check out my About page, it’s already there so let’s just jump right in. Today I would like to introduce the concept of Life Coaching. We all know from our childhood what a coach is. They train us. They get us ready for the game. They teach and perfect skills. In adulthood, a Life Coach will also specialize in a particular field. Their “sport” could be coaching socialization skills, work related coaching, dating, relationship coaches, or anything that needs fine tuning. In my case, it is coaching the special populations. I have taught special education for years. Fourteen to be exact. I have taught every level, worked at the administrative level, taught various avenues within special ed (co-teach, resource, content mastery, life skills, job skills, behavior classes, you name it!) So, as I explored the life coach avenue, I realized something. I never saw special education in the list of coaches. Are they not in need? Are our special education students, adults, and parents of special needs not in need of help? I find that hard to believe. I have worked in this field long enough that I know from experience they struggle too. I developed the idea of taking my passion and applying the concept of coaching to it. A special education life coach is available to consult with parents and assist in developing tools and skills to help their child be successful. We all encounter barriers in life. We get stuck and sometimes it is just so hard and so frustrating we can’t see past them. We want to give up. We, as humans, feel defeated. That feeling is so scary and so hard. My hope is that I can be that person to reach out to. I want to help. I am not the be all, fix all, by any means. However, I do believe 2 brains are better than 1. Other people have ideas outside of the box that can sometimes be the simplest idea and it works. Maybe it won’t. Maybe it will take several tries. I am here to help develop ideas and shape minds so that life isn’t so hard. With that said, keep following my blog to explore ways to help our special needs populations.
